Each year I go, I am reminded how much there is to learn! The Black Belts of Mo Duk Pai provided top notch classes in the theme of Tributaries. This year, student were given a series of classes in our roots of training. And the student sure did soak it up – kudos to all of you who made it through. Lots of sweat and smiles this weekend! Its definitely not for everyone, but for those who attended, I think they got the value in getting out of Dodge for a bit and digging into training. Good to know where you come from and what makes this Art so effective! Continue reading “2014 Mo Duk Pai Training Camp”
This Saturday is the Fall event of our MDP kids tournaments! We will have a judges and helpers meeting at 8:45am in the weight room of the AKF. Any and all Mo Duk Pai Black Belts help in judging for this tournament will be greatly appreciated! Undersashes wishing to help will be put to work regardless of rank. Its been the judges and the helpers that have made these events so fluid in the past. Thank you in advance for any time you can volunteer!
Continuing Sifu Jackson’s progression of tips in sparring, the concept of using chi sao in point sparring is talked about here. For me, it took a long time to make a connection between these 2 drills – point sparring, and chi sao. They both had their place and purposes in my training, but Sifu showed me how one tool can help the other. Chi sao in driving? Of course. Chi sao in surfing? Absolutely. Chi sao in point sparring? Cool! For other Black Belts, I’d love to hear if you already use chi sao in your sparring.
